Don’t
worry. My objectivity is still intact despite having
promised to say something nice about the most excellent
Prius or face legal action from Toyota. I would like
to lots more smaller vehicles in the city and the
Prius is in with a chance if it can slim down a bit.
Many more Small Cars would be good for me at the moment
, particularly if they were the same colour and had
a similar registration. Like many push-bike users
I tend to get bullied by people in bigger more powerful
cars (and military style SUVs). So what’s good
for me should be good for you too. Which brings me
to my wishes for 2006.
1.
More courtesy and respect from other road users when
I’m in a hurry.
2.
Less punishment for responsible drivers that do illegal
things.
3.
More punishment for irresponsible drivers that do
illegal things.
4.
Free public transport for car owners.
5.
Free push-bike and roof rack for all car owners. To
support my dream of ‘everyone should be
able to drive even if it’s just to find somewhere
safe to cycle’.
6.
Abolish road tax on SmallCars like mine.
7.
Compulsory insurance with every bike helmet sold (see
CC4)
8.
A ’Push-bike Free Week’. Could be called
‘In town without any push-bikes to bother about’.
9.
‘National Drive to Work Week’ in conjunction
with ‘National No-Bus Week’.
10.
And finally, especially for Toyota, a ‘National
Let Us Try a Prius Day!’. (*Ed - do you think
I’ll get back in their good books? Bit worried
about them as that legal letter was a bit heavy last
issue. Don’t print this bit though - thanks).
