Rickshaw Risposte
In the latest round in long-running battle a group of cyclists have come out on top once again.

The London Taxi Drivers Association has for some time been taking evermore extravagant steps to try and drive pedal-powered rickshaws off the road. At times it seems quite literally, at one point even arguing that the rickshaws were dangerous because if a car, such as a taxi, were to hit them the people in the rickshaw would likely die.

Putting aside the obvious response that if that is the case surely all bicycles, motorbikes and even pedestrians should be banned from London's streets and the metropolis turned over entirely to the car, the dotty stance taken by the LTDA has gained some official approval, to the extent that the LTDA felt it had enough support to launch a legal action aginst BugBugs of London, a pedicab business of some 7 years standing, to require those operating the pedicabs to have to obtain licences to operate (much like the motorised cabs).

Naturally the High Court saw sense and the case was lost, with the LTDA still claiming that the rickshaws were a danger and a nuisance because they 'clogged up bus lanes'.

If all this sounds like a touch of sour grapes on the part of the taxi drivers.... Well... That's probably because it is.

But don't be surprised to hear more about this, with the taxi drivers claiming that the 'drivers' breathing more heavily with the exertion of pedalling contributes CO2 and that baby foxes could easily be run over by the rickshaws.

We hope next month to have someone from BugBugs for comment
