.our
top five this month sees us finding cyclists in an
unexpected quarter - politicians aren't exactly known
for getting out on the bike, but rather for extravagant
taxi bills and chauffered jags - but here we list
our top five cycling politicians (excluding those
from obvious places like scandinavia and the netherlands)

Would
have been further up the list if he'd actually been
a cyclist, but as it is the former Tory front-bencher
gets on the list due to his call to the unemployed
to "get on your bike and look for work."
Except that's not actually what he said.
The
actual quote from Tebbit is this: "I grew
up in the '30s with an unemployed father. He didn't
riot. He got on his bike and looked for work, and
he kept looking 'til he found it."
Okay,
so it's a rather oblique method of cycling advocacy,
but it was the closest cycling came to getting some
support from the government of the day in the UK.
