.24 - 26th may - tour of wessex
"The
Tour of Wessex brings the drama and excitement of
a bicycle stage race to Southern England. International
teams competing against the UK's top professionals
over a three stage, 300-mile race on a route that
includes some of the best scenery and most well know
sites in the UK; including Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar
Gorge, Exmoor National Park, and the Jurassic Coast."
So
goes the blurb on the official website, and it's hard
not to get excited given what's on offer here.
On
the same routes, on the same days, thousands of amateurs
will also be taking part in sportive rides departing
shortly after the main racing packs have left.
And
around all of this is a mountain bike endurance event;
trials riding; and a full on cycling show. For three
days in May Wessex is going to be the place to be
for cyclists. See
the official website here.
.25 - 26th may - get cycling show, nottingham
Mind
you, if you can't get to the Wessex event above but
can get to Nottingham you're certainly not
going to miss out on any fun!
The
Get Cycling Show, or to give it its alternative moniker,
the National Bike Try-out Event and Exhibition, takes
place at the Nottingham Race Course, and does exactly
what it says on the tin.
This
is going to be an event absolutely jam-packed with
things going on, and the chance to test all sorts
of bikes, whether you're planning to buy, or have
always just fancied trying something.
Added
to this the entertainment on show is going to be phenomenal
for any cycling fan, with stunt shows on offer; penny
farthing demonstrations; cycling films; seven-seater
bikes; Wobbly John with XnTRICK Cycles (also coming
to a citycycling near you soon hopefully); and our
personal favourite (big kids that we are) the world’s
first pedal-powered dodgems.
