.18th may - etape caledonia
Billed
as the UK's first and only fully road closed event
the Etape Caledonia is modelled on the Etape du Tour
which takes place every year around the Tour de France,
only the setting with this event is in Perthshire.
Last
year's event stirred up a little bit of resentment
in the local population who felt they weren't kept
adequately informed of what was going on (despite
what has since been shown to have been a major financial
boost to the area bastions of the tourism industry
like big hotels joined in with the shouting).
This
year's event is slightly faster, so that the rolling
road closures don't have so much of an impact, but
it's likely to be just as popular this year as it
was it with the entrants at least. More
