stats: name, age, occupation, bikes
Chas
Nairn, 35, filmaker, bike shop manager, Haro Nyquist
pro bmx (I dont ride trials myself - just film the riders)
.what
first got you into riding? were you a fan of bmx bandits?!?
I
was always into bikes since I can remember but when
I started work in the bike shop I was hooked completely
mainly due to access to all types of bikes from bmx
to downhill beasts (and massive discounts).
I
don't ride trials but I met all the riders from 'Accomplish'
through the shop and the rest is history.
I
can remember watching bmx bandits when i was younger
for sure but the bike video industry was non existent
then so there was nothing to look up to - when you're
young its the tricks in the videos that make you wanna
go ride and try to copy them.
.do
you ride other disciplines?
Yes
I enjoy freeriding with one of the sweet Kona demo bikes
from the shop. Not a fan of uphill really!
.how
can street riding help with overall riding ability?
Street
riding does help your overall riding ability for sure
- you can easily use your street riding skills when
you are riding offroad. e.g next time you are riding
imagine every big root or rock is a kerb and treat it
as you would in the city.
More
importantly though is balance which is needed in nearly
all trials moves and will be more useful than any other
skill learned.
