My view is that if they behave like a vehicle, they are a vehicle and I’ll treat them in the usual way (ie overtake them at the first opportunity!) A horse is not a vehicle and is usually driven by a police officer in the city. Needless to say most motorists are afraid of respect horses if operated by police. They will drive patiently behind them at 5mph and even do U-turns to avoid them. I never see horses used off duty though. That would be interesting.

The alternative view is that streets are the bits of the city that link the buildings together. That to me is an odd concept. If one thing that CIty Cycling has taught me is there is a huge range of views out there. If more people came round to my point of view it would be a lot easier for me, but I accept that there will always be the push-bikers among us. Just to prove my point check out the push-bikes in this trailer for SciFi movie AeonFlux.

This features the last city on Earth in 2400. Naturally it’s run by bad people (town planners?) that only allow walking and cycling! As you can see (briefly) the push-bike in 400 years time will look very much the same as today’s static exercise bike but will be capable of moving somewhere outdoors under human power. A brilliant concept if it can be made to work. Of course it might also have a solar powered, on-board, stabilisation system that ensures it stays upright. It might even have working brakes and lights by then. I can live in hope.

The heroines are beautiful looking, skimpily dressed and can outrun anything on wheels . If they did drive a car it would be a Zonda Special Edition Intergalctica.

Despite all these luscious ingredients I hear that the film is crap.
