Yes,
it can be rather idylic being a cyclist.
But
what happens when the days get shorter and colder?
Or the wind whips up into a headwind? Or it starts
raining when you are exactly halfway out on your route?
In
issue 11 we asked you what were the worst things about
being a cycle commuter, what was it that has you staring
out the window with the prospect of the ride to work
wondering why it is that you put yourself through
this every day?
Here
at cc we had expected the usual responses of having
to ride in the rain, or against the wind, and we weren't
disappointed as more than half the respondents admitted
these were factors against cycling.
Perhaps
surprisingly having to deal with drivers didn't poll
as highly - perhaps more an inconvience than an outright
reason not to take the bike to work, they tend to
be something always there, we took up riding to work
despite the traffic and that hasn't changed.
Equally
the hassle of having to change once you are at work
didn't prove much of a turn off. There were, however,
two main reasons for not cycling which we hadn't foreseen.
