.flirt

Is it flirting if you tell someone they have a nice bike?
Calum

That depends on whose bike one is complimenting and in what manner one goes about it. It also depends a great deal on the personal tastes of both complimenter and complimentee. After all, in today's modern age of broad sexuality, a gruff chap of roughly-hewn proportions and manly visage uttering the words "Like your bike, mate" could well be just the thing a fellow blessed with an abundance of testosterone enjoys in that special way.

It is never safe to assume, and in a tolerant society one should not be offended if an innocently-meant comment is misconstrued as an indication of attraction. One should be flattered, for a person is only likely to interpret an otherwise neutral, albeit positive, statement as a hint at physical attraction if he or she finds the other person attractive.
